So, what’s the buzz? The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) is all set for its annual Toys for Tots day of giving. It’s happening this Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Aqueduct Racetrack.

This event is a holiday tradition at the Big A. It’s held every year on Cigar Mile Day. And guess what? It’s in partnership with the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Foundation.

Toys for Tots, you ask? It’s a foundation that’s been around since 1947. Their mission? To collect and distribute new, unwrapped toys to local kiddos in need during the holiday season. If you’re planning to be there this Saturday, you’ll find donation boxes at the Turf and Field entrance and the Clubhouse lobby.

But that’s not all. NYRA is also making a financial contribution to the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Foundation. And they’re not alone. The New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (NYTHA) and Thoroughbred owner Harold Lerner are also chipping in.

NYTHA President Joe Appelbaum is all praises for the Toys for Tots Foundation. He says, “New York’s horsemen take pride in giving generously each and every year.” Lerner’s on the same page. He sees his support of Toys for Toys as a way of making the holidays more meaningful for everyone.

“Toys for Tots is an incredible organization that supports countless children and families here in New York,” Lerner said. “It is an honor to be able to support their important work, and I thank NYRA for once again committing to a day of giving. It’s our goal to make kids smile, especially at this time of year, and we want to reach as many children as possible.”

So, there you have it. A day of giving, a day of smiles. And a day to make the holidays a little brighter for those in need.
