Churchill Downs and TEN20 Craft Brewery have partnered to release Churchill Downs Light, a new light lager celebrating the tradition of thoroughbred racing. The specialty beer honors the legacy and atmosphere of experiencing a day at the historic racetrack.
The new offering features a crisp, clean finish with subtle citrus notes complementing its light body. Packaged in 16 oz. cans, the design prominently displays Churchill Downs’ iconic Twin Spires alongside a galloping Thoroughbred silhouette set against jockey silks.
“Creating Churchill Downs Light has been a labor of love–rooted in craftsmanship, community, and celebration,” said Jim McGuire, co-owner of TEN20 Craft Brewery. “We set out to brew something approachable and refreshing that embodies the spirit of Churchill Downs, and we’re proud to see it come to life alongside an iconic venue like Churchill Downs.”
Churchill Downs Light will be available beginning Thursday, April 17 at select retailers throughout the region.
The beer will also be sold on-site at TEN20 taprooms and at Churchill Downs during Kentucky Derby Week.
Racing enthusiasts and craft beer fans are invited to attend the official launch party at TEN20’s Butchertown taproom located at 1020 E. Washington St. in Louisville on Friday, April 18 at 6 p.m. ET.
The celebration will feature first tastings of Churchill Downs Light, food offerings, and a live ESPN Louisville radio broadcast from the venue.
This collaboration arrives just weeks before the 151st running of the Kentucky Derby, positioning the new beverage as part of the traditional Derby experience.
