Connects Angel Gift Rolls in Career Debut at Saratoga

Angel Gift Impresses in Saratoga Debut

Repole Stable‘s Angel Gift delivered an eye-catching performance in her career debut Sunday at Saratoga, drawing clear to win by four lengths in a $90,000 maiden special weight for 2-year-old fillies.

The Todd Pletcher trainee, sent off as the 3-2 second choice, completed the 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:05.25 over a fast track.

Angel Gift settled off the early pace as favorites Gorrono Ranch (War of Will) and Nacho Problem (Waiting) battled through an opening quarter in :22.44. The Connect filly found her best stride in the stretch, rallying powerfully down the center of the track to overtake the pacesetters.

Miss Magical (Good Magic) closed for second.

The winner boasts an impressive pedigree as a half-sister to multiple Grade 1 winner Cave Rock (Arrogate, $748,000). Her dam, Grade 2 winner Georgie’s Angel (Bellamy Road), has produced several valuable offspring including $1.05 million OBSMAR purchase Assurbanipal (Arrogate).

Angel Gift, a $300,000 purchase at the 2024 Saratoga yearling sale, was bred in New York by Kathleen Burke Schweizer and Daniel J. Burke.

Georgie’s Angel is also the dam of an unraced 3-year-old filly by Improbable and a yearling filly by Flightline. She was most recently bred to Good Magic.
