It is always heartwarming to see individuals who are passionate about the equine industry getting the opportunity to pursue their dreams. Three individuals, Sean Berns, Sarah Pepper, and Larry Mulvany, have been named as the recipients of the Gerry Dilger Equine Foundation Kentucky Experience scholarship. This fantastic opportunity will place them on Kentucky farms for a year, starting in January 2024.

Sean Berns, a graduate of the Irish National Stud, will be placed at Springhouse Farm. His impressive background in equine business and work experience in renowned studs in Ireland and Australia make him a valuable addition to the Kentucky farm. Similarly, Sarah Pepper, a recent graduate from University College Dublin, will also be heading to Springhouse Farm. Sarah’s diverse equine experience and specific interest in equine nutrition and welfare make her a perfect fit for the scholarship.

Larry Mulvany, another University College Dublin graduate, will be joining Hunter Valley Farm for the year. As the son of trainer Michael Mulvany, Larry has already gained valuable experience working with notable names in the equine industry. His aspiration to become a trainer in Ireland shows his dedication and passion for the industry.

The Gerry Dilger Equine Scholarship Foundation was established in memory of Gerry Dilger, a well-respected figure in the equine industry. The scholarship not only provides the recipients with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience at Kentucky farms but also includes visa, flights, an hourly wage, and accommodation. The charity invited applications from recent graduates of equine programs, making it an inclusive and supportive initiative for those looking to kick start their careers in the equine industry.

It’s heartening to see initiatives such as the Gerry Dilger Equine Foundation Kentucky Experience scholarship providing young, talented individuals with the chance to grow and learn in the industry. This opportunity will undoubtedly be a stepping stone for Sean Berns, Sarah Pepper, and Larry Mulvany to further their careers in the equine world. We wish them the best of luck as they embark on this exciting journey in Kentucky.
