Delaware Park has rescheduled its live racing program for next week due to extreme heat forecasts, track officials announced Thursday.
The racing schedule will shift to Thursday, June 26 through Saturday, June 28, eliminating the originally planned Wednesday, June 25 card.
Entries taken tomorrow will be for the rescheduled Friday, June 27 program.
Saturday’s racing card for June 21 remains unchanged with first post time set for 12:35 p.m. ET.
The schedule adjustment comes as a precautionary measure to protect horses, jockeys, and track personnel during the anticipated heat wave expected to impact the region next week.
Delaware Park regularly evaluates weather conditions to ensure the safety of all participants in its racing program. Similar schedule adjustments have been implemented at various tracks across the country during extreme weather events.
The track’s paddock area, a focal point for pre-race preparations, will maintain standard operations during the modified racing schedule.
