Oh boy, did you hear about the Into Mischief filly’s debut? It was over at Keeneland’s lush turf. Thursday, April 18, 2024, marked the date. Precisely at 3:27 pm, but let’s not forget the update at 4:03 pm. Details, right?
Waves of Mischief, that’s her name. Captured beautifully by Coady Photography. She was in a race, a pretty big deal for a first-timer, with a purse of $97,558. Not too shabby, huh?
She was the 5-2 favorite. Imagine that pressure! But she settled in third, just biding her time behind Beyond Lucky. The strategy seemed to pay off. Around the far turn, she made her move. It was like watching poetry in motion.
Marty Wygod, part of her breeding team, sadly passed away last week. He was 84. A moment of silence for him. The filly, though, she was on a mission. She tipped to the outside and just zoomed ahead, winning by a length over Deep Satin. A fellow newbie.
Her mom, Pearl River, isn’t with us anymore either. But she left behind some promising offspring, including a 2-year-old colt and a yearling. It’s like a legacy, isn’t it?
Oh, and get this – she was a $575,000 purchase as a 2-year-old. Now that’s what I call an investment. Owned by Qatar Racing LLC and trained by Brendan P. Walsh. Not a bad team to have in your corner.
On Twitter, @TVG was all over it, showing off her win with a tweet. Tyler Gaffalione was the jockey steering her to victory. You can almost feel the excitement through the screen.
And if you’re into the nitty-gritty, there’s a link to watch the race. Sponsored by FanDuel TV, no less. It’s like they knew she was going to be a star.
So, there you have it. A strong debut that’s got everyone talking. Makes you wonder what’s next for Waves of Mischief, doesn’t it? Keep your eyes peeled. This filly’s just getting started.
