Juvenile Stakes Highlight Los Alamitos Winter Meet

Juvenile Stakes Take Center Stage at Los Alamitos Winter Meet

Los Alamitos Race Course will showcase four juvenile stakes races during its upcoming six-day winter meeting in Cypress, California. The abbreviated season runs over two consecutive weekends, December 5-7 and December 12-14.

The $200,000 Grade II Starlet Stakes headlines the first weekend on Saturday, December 6. The mile and a sixteenth contest for 2-year-old fillies serves as a companion to the $200,000 Grade II Los Alamitos Futurity for males at the same distance, scheduled for Saturday, December 13.

Two California-bred restricted events round out the stakes program. The $100,000 Soviet Problem Stakes for fillies runs Sunday, December 7, while the $100,000 King Glorious Stakes closes the meeting on December 14. Both state-bred races will be contested at one mile.

The wagering menu features multiple multi-race wagers including a pair of $1 Pick 4’s — covering races 2-5 and the final four races — along with a $2 Pick Six. The popular Players’ Pick 5, a 50-cent minimum bet with a reduced 14% takeout rate, will be available on the first five races each day.

Pick Six distributions will follow the standard 70-30 split format, with 70% of the pool allocated to tickets with six winners and the remaining 30% to tickets with five correct selections.

A handicapping contest is scheduled for Saturday, December 13. The Los Alamitos Racing Association will offer cash prizes and two qualifying berths to the 2026 National Thoroughbred Racing Association Handicapping Championship in Las Vegas. Entry costs $500, with $100 directed to the contest prize pool and $400 allocated to a live money wagering card.
