Expect your print catalogs in the mail around the week of Dec. 18.

Tony Lacy, Keeneland’s VP of Sales, has a few thoughts on the event. He says, “The January Sale offers a variety of breeding and racing opportunities at all levels of the market.” This isn’t just for the locals, either. Horsemen operating both domestically and internationally will find something to their liking.

Lacy continues, “Quality broodmares and broodmare prospects will appeal to breeders prepping for the upcoming breeding season.” And that’s not all. “Short yearlings will catch the eye of pinhookers and end-users. And horses of racing age? Owners and trainers making plans for their racing stables will be interested,” he adds.

The January Sale catalog has some top offerings. Hidden Connection (Connect) is one. She’s had five graded stakes performances, including a 9¼-length romp in the GIII Pocahontas S. Hidden Brook is offering her as a racing or broodmare prospect.

Then there’s Parnac (Fr) (Zarac Fr), the GII 2023 Flower Bowl S. winner and a stakes winner in Germany. Lane’s End is offering her as a racing or broodmare prospect.

Pipit (Quality Road) is another one to watch. She won the Victoria S. (L) and was second in the Algonquin S. (L) at 2 this year. Hill ‘n’ Dale at Xalapa is offering her as a racing or broodmare prospect.

Don’t forget Prank (Into Mischief), a half-sister to GI Belmont S. winner Mo Donegal. She won her career debut at Saratoga by a whopping 9¾ lengths. Gainesway is offering her as a broodmare prospect.

And last but not least, there’s Star Act (Street Cry Ire). She’s the dam of Just F Y I, the undefeated winner of this year’s GI NetJets Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies and GI Frizette S. Star Act is offered in foal to Just F Y I’s sire, Justify, by Hill ‘n’ Dale at Xalapa.
