Case Clay Thoroughbred Management, a first-time seller at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, made a striking debut as they secured the top two lots at Keenland’s single-session Horses of Racing Age Sale. Co-topping the sale were a pair of last-out maiden winners, priced at $350,000 apiece – which is quite the impressive feat for a newcomer. Double Dream, a winning 3-year-old half-sister to MGISW Verrazano, will be heading to Australia for a client of Arrowfield Stud, as per Case Clay. “Double Dream is gonna go down to Australia, ultimately to be bred. She’s really well bred by Curlin out of a Giant’s Causeway mare,” explained Case Clay. “Just an outstanding female family and she’s really pretty as well. Looking forward to seeing her babies in Australia.”

Evidently, Double Dream’s future looks bright but a potential mate for her has not been decided just yet. “Not yet. She would suit a lot of them down there. Maybe she’ll race a little bit down there, but ultimately, she will be for breeding purposes,” shared Case Clay. Meanwhile, the 2-year-old colt Edgartown, who was previously trained by Joe Sharp, also pulled in a cool $350,000 and looks like he has a promising future. “He’s gonna race here in the U.S.,” Clay said. “Liked him for his form, really. Recent winner at Churchill Downs in his third start. Before that, he was second by a neck to a next-out Churchill Downs maiden special weight winner.”

With both horses being signed for a considerable amount of money, it’s safe to say that Case Clay Thoroughbred Management is off to a great start in this competitive industry. A participant in both selling and buying in this elite sale, they previously sold Puca for $2.9 million and Dalika for $1.65 million in private transactions. “Very grateful to my clients,” Clay said. “Feel lucky to have participated in the sale and selling those two mares and also buying these two and another mare.” Overall, it was a successful day at Keenland’s single-session Horses of Racing Age Sale with sales benefitting from a diverse group of buyers. Horse enthusiasts were proud to have shared in the trades and were excited to witness the fruits of their investments in the promising young horses.
