Klaravich Stables‘ Growth Trajectory made an impressive racing debut Sunday at Monmouth Park, capturing a $48,625 maiden special weight by 3 1/2 lengths on the turf course.
The 3-year-old British-bred filly by Lope de Vega overcame early trouble to win the 1 1/16-mile contest in 1:43.85 over firm ground. Sent off as the 7-2 second choice, Growth Trajectory recovered from a bump at the start to settle in fourth position.
Making a three-wide move around the far turn, the Chad Brown trainee seized command by upper stretch and drew clear as Tight Line (Constitution) rallied from the back of the pack to finish second.
Growth Trajectory represents an impressive pedigree. Her dam, Wekeela, was a graded stakes winner and Grade 1-placed performer in both France and the United States with career earnings of $418,587.
The winner is a maternal relative of Scandinavian champion Matauri Pearl, who produced Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf winner Aunt Pearl — also by Lope de Vega. This female family also includes G1 Qatar Prix du Cadran winner Molly Malone and multiple group stakes winner Morgan Le Faye.
More distant relatives include influential German stallion Monsun, a six-time leading sire across two countries and eight-time leading broodmare sire in three nations, along with multiple Group 1 winner Brametot.
Growth Trajectory was purchased for 180,000 guineas at the 2023 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale. The victory earned connections $28,500.
Wekeela’s most recent registered offspring is a juvenile colt by Dubawi.
