NBC Sports has extended its media rights partnership with the Breeders’ Cup through 2030, both organizations announced Tuesday. The multi-year agreement ensures the prestigious horse racing championships will continue to be broadcast across NBC, Peacock, and USA Network platforms for the next six years.
The renewed partnership begins with the 2025 Breeders’ Cup from Del Mar, which will receive 10 hours of total coverage. This includes 3½ hours of programming on NBC, supplemental coverage on USA Network, and comprehensive live streaming on Peacock throughout both days of competition.
“NBC sets the gold standard in sports broadcasting and will continue to bring the thrill and prestige of the World Championships to millions of fans around the world,” said Drew Fleming, President & CEO of Breeders’ Cup Limited. “We look forward to their award-winning team showcasing the sport’s greatest moments and sharing the magic of the Breeders’ Cup with a global audience.”
NBC’s relationship with the Breeders’ Cup dates back to the event’s inception, having broadcast the inaugural World Championships in 1984. The network presented the first 22 events through 2005 before returning as the media home in 2012.
By the conclusion of this new agreement, NBC Sports will have served as the broadcast partner for 41 of the event’s 47 years.
“Our partnership with Breeders’ Cup spans four decades and has featured thrilling races and memorable stories,” said Jon Miller, President, Acquisitions & Partnerships, NBC Sports. “We are excited to extend our relationship through 2030 and look forward to more world-class racing at the season-ending championships.”
The network’s coverage has received significant industry recognition, winning the Eclipse Award for Live Television Programming for five consecutive years, including for its 2023 broadcast from Santa Anita.
This year’s Breeders’ Cup will take place Friday, October 31 and Saturday, November 1, featuring Sierra Leone, who captured the 2024 Breeders’ Cup Classic at Del Mar.
