Kentucky HBPA and Kentucky Downs presented $100,000 checks to three racing industry non-profit organizations during Saturday’s card at the Franklin turf track, according to a release from the horsemen’s organization.
The donations, split evenly with $50,000 contributed from each organization, will provide critical funding to the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance, Stable Recovery and the Kentucky Racing Health and Welfare Fund.
The presentation ceremony took place during the racing program at Kentucky Downs, highlighting the industry’s commitment to supporting organizations that serve both equine and human participants in racing.
The Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance accredits, inspects, and awards grants to approved aftercare organizations nationwide that retire, retrain, and rehome Thoroughbreds following their racing careers.
Stable Recovery provides addiction recovery support and resources specifically tailored to backstretch workers and racing industry participants struggling with substance abuse issues.
The Kentucky Racing Health and Welfare Fund offers financial assistance for healthcare, social services, and other essential support to eligible Kentucky racing industry workers.
This collaborative donation represents a significant investment in racing’s support infrastructure at a time when aftercare initiatives and human services programs have faced increased demand.
The partnership between the horsemen’s group and the track demonstrates the racing community’s ongoing commitment to responsible stewardship of both equine athletes and the people who care for them.
