NYRA and Mohegan Sun Extend Partnership, Continue Jim Dandy Stakes Sponsorship
The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) announced Thursday a multi-year partnership renewal with Mohegan Sun, securing the casino’s position as an official casino partner of Saratoga Race Course and presenting sponsor of the GII Jim Dandy Stakes.
The $500,000 Jim Dandy presented by Mohegan Sun will run on Saturday, July 26. The nine-furlong contest for three-year-olds serves as the traditional local prep for the GI DraftKings Travers Stakes scheduled for August 23.
Fierceness captured last year’s Jim Dandy at Saratoga, adding to the race’s storied history as a key stepping stone toward the Travers.
The renewed partnership extends beyond race sponsorship. Mohegan Sun branding will feature prominently throughout the five-day Belmont Stakes Racing Festival at Saratoga, the July 4th Racing Festival, and during the entire 40-day summer meet. The casino will also maintain visibility through integration with Saratoga Live on FOX Sports.
Brad Bryant, General Manager of Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook & Race Book, emphasized the casino’s commitment to horse racing.
“While many casino and entertainment destinations no longer feature a Race Book, Mohegan Sun is proud to still have a dedicated venue of our own with the latest betting tech and top-notch guest service,” Bryant said. “That’s a big reason why we’re so grateful for our partnership with NYRA and to once again be a major sponsor for the upcoming $500,000 Jim Dandy presented by Mohegan Sun! Live horse racing consistently features excellent competition and we’re thrilled to be a part of Belmont at Saratoga June 7!”
The partnership represents a continued investment in thoroughbred racing from one of the Northeast’s premier gaming destinations at a time when many casinos have reduced their racing footprint.
