MyRacehorse and Old Friends Partner to Support Thoroughbred Aftercare
Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement Farm has formed a strategic partnership with MyRacehorse to enhance Thoroughbred aftercare initiatives, with the collaboration officially launching at the “Night Out With Champions” event on Friday, Oct. 24 at Old Friends’s Georgetown, Kentucky, location.
The evening will feature farm tours, a buffet dinner, drinks, raffles, door prizes, and a charity auction. All proceeds will benefit Old Friends’s mission of providing lifelong homes for retired racehorses.
Notable racing industry figures have already confirmed their attendance, including trainer Wesley Ward, Triple Crown-winning jockey Victor Espinoza, and Hall of Fame jockey Edgar Prado. Additional guests will be announced in the coming days.
“What MyRacehorse has done is nothing short of a revolution,” said Old Friends founder Michael Blowen. “They’ve proven that Thoroughbred racing isn’t just for the wealthy but for everyone who loves these great athletes. Old Friends and MyRacehorse depend on the fans, those that adore the sport, to assure that the athletes’ working lives and retirement are filled with fun and safety.”
The partnership extends beyond the single event, creating a sustainable funding model for aftercare efforts.
“Every Old Friends tour will now include an opportunity for visitors to join the MyRacehorse community,” explained MyRacehorse founder Michael Behrens. “When someone creates an account with MyRacehorse, we’ll make a donation back to Old Friends, creating a lasting funding stream for aftercare.”
The timing of the event coincides with Keeneland’s closing weekend and represents the first of several planned collaborations between the two organizations.
Tickets for “Night Out With Champions” are available online, with 100% of net proceeds benefiting Old Friends.
