Spendthrift Farm and Repole Stable‘s Accelerize earned ‘TDN Rising Star’ honors Saturday with a commanding debut victory on the Tampa Bay Derby undercard.
The 3-year-old colt by Omaha Beach romped to a 7 3/4-length win in his first career start, completing seven furlongs in an impressive 1:21.20.
Breaking from the far outside post position under jockey Irad Ortiz Jr., the 7-2 shot immediately seized command and set fractions of :21.87 and :45.03 before drawing off impressively down the stretch. Favored Moment’s Notice (More Than Ready) finished a distant second.
Anthony Sciametta Jr., longtime assistant to Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher, was listed as trainer of record. Pletcher is currently serving a seven-day suspension imposed by the Horseracing Integrity and Welfare Unit after a horse from his barn tested positive for betamethasone.
The $400,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase becomes the third ‘Rising Star’ for his sire Omaha Beach.
Bred by Spendthrift Farm, Accelerize is the first foal out of stakes-winning and multiple graded stakes-placed Motion Emotion (Take Charge Indy), who earned $542,716 during her racing career. Spendthrift acquired the mare for $800,000 at the 2020 Fasig-Tipton November sale.
Motion Emotion has since produced a Yaupon filly in 2023 and a Cyberknife colt in 2024. She was bred back to Into Mischief for 2025.
Accelerize hails from the extended female family of GI Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf winner Shared Account (Pleasantly Perfect) and her daughter, GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf winner Sharing (Speightstown).
The official race details from the 6th at Tampa Bay Downs show Accelerize completing the seven-furlong maiden special weight in 1:21.20 on a fast track, earning $18,240 for the victory.
