Scott Jordan Appointed NYRA Head Starter
NYRA announced Monday that Scott Jordan will assume the role of head starter at its tracks beginning May 23, pending relevant licensing.
Jordan brings more than 20 years of experience to the position, including a tenure at Churchill Downs that began in 2006. He has also worked at Keeneland, Ellis Park, and Kentucky Downs throughout his career.
In his new role, Jordan will manage NYRA’s team of assistant starters and oversee starting gate operations at Aqueduct, Belmont Park, and Saratoga. His responsibilities will extend to working with trainers and riders during morning sessions to assist with gate training.
"Scott Jordan’s vast experience and knowledge made him the ideal candidate for this position, which is vitally important to NYRA’s racing operations," said Andrew Offerman, NYRA senior vice president of Racing & Operations. "Beyond his skills in and around the starting gate, Scott is a proven leader dedicated to enhancing safety and preserving the integrity of racing."
The appointment comes as part of NYRA’s ongoing commitment to maintaining high standards in racing operations across its premier New York tracks.
