Looking to attract horses from outside California, the Ship & Win Program is set to make a return to Santa Anita when the track opens for racing on December 26th. Designed to provide eligible shippers with $4,000 guaranteed for their first start, as well as additional bonus money in excess of listed purses, the program aims to entice more competitors to participate at the track. According to Jason Egan, the Santa Anita Director of Racing and Racing Secretary, “The Ship and Win program is now well known throughout the country and we’re hoping it will continue to attract significant numbers of horses.”

For horses participating in the Ship & Win Program, finishing first through fifth on dirt will provide them with a 50% bonus, while those finishing first through fifth on turf will get a 40% bonus in addition to regular purse money. These bonuses are applicable for one start only, making it an attractive opportunity for horses from outside California to compete at Santa Anita. Egan added, “We obviously have a great facility at which to race and train and we feel we’ve got the best turf racing in America at this time of the year, which provides tremendous incentives for those considering stabling here in Southern California year-round.”

The program aims to leverage the state-of-the-art facilities and top-tier turf racing at Santa Anita during this time of the year, making it an appealing option for horse owners to stable in Southern California throughout the year. With the return of the Ship & Win Program, Santa Anita looks forward to attracting a significant number of horses from outside California to compete at the track. The incentives provided by the program, combined with the renowned facilities and turf racing, make it a lucrative opportunity for horse owners and trainers looking to participate in races at Santa Anita.
