Brian Spearman Steps Away From Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners
Brian Spearman will step away from his day-to-day role as chairman of Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners at the end of this year, the syndicate announced Friday. His departure marks the end of a decade-long tenure that brought unprecedented success to the racing partnership.
Spearman, who has served as chairman since 2015, helped transform Eclipse into a prominent force in the public partnership space while achieving significant on-track success.
“Brian’s business acumen, combined with his sheer passion for the Thoroughbred horse racing industry has played a vital role in Eclipse’s rise within the public partnership space and our considerable success on the racetrack,” said Eclipse Founder and President Aron Wellman.
Under Spearman’s leadership, Eclipse established itself as one of the industry’s premier racing partnerships, campaigning numerous stakes winners and developing a reputation for strategic acquisitions and management.
The announcement comes as Eclipse continues to position itself for future growth in the competitive racing partnership landscape. The company has not yet announced a successor for the chairman position.
Spearman frequently represented Eclipse at major racing events alongside Wellman and trainers including Todd Pletcher, helping to raise the partnership’s profile within the industry.
His departure represents a significant transition for the organization that has become known for both its business model and racing achievements during his tenure.
