Fasig-Tipton announced Tuesday that ‘TDN Rising Star’ Spectacular Grey topped their July Digital Sale, selling for $625,000 to Epic Horses, LLC.
The gray 2-year-old filly by Not This Time, who dominated her Monmouth Park debut on July 12 by 7 3/4 lengths in :58.33 for five furlongs, was offered as hip 30 by Taylor Made Sales Agency.
“We are thrilled to have bought Spectacular Grey,” said Shannon Potter, Thoroughbred Advisor to Epic Horses, LLC. “The way she won her debut was so impressive, and she’s by Not This Time, who has quickly proven himself to be one of the top sires in the world. Being by Not This Time, she should get better with age and more distance.”
Potter praised the digital platform’s accessibility. “I love buying off the Fasig-Tipton Digital Platform. Fasig-Tipton Digital brings you exciting offerings like Spectacular Grey on a year-round basis. The platform is so easy to use. You have access to all the buying resources you could ever want with just a couple clicks of the mouse.”
The July Digital Sale saw 137 horses change hands for a total of $4,808,500, averaging $35,098 with an 81% clearance rate. The catalog featured horses of racing age, racing/broodmare prospects, 2-year-olds in training, breeding stock, and yearlings.
Malarchuk (Nyquist) commanded the second-highest price at $525,000, selling as hip 32 by Chad C. Brown to Reddam Racing & ERJ Racing. The colt entered the sale following consecutive victories at Saratoga.
Fancy Love (Not This Time), dam of Bashford Manor Stakes winner Romeo (Honor A. P.), sold for $260,000 as hip 6. Consigned by Hartwell Farm, the mare was purchased by Mahmud Mouni — who previously acquired Romeo for a record $1.7 million at Fasig-Tipton’s July Selected Horses of Racing Age sale. She sold in foal to Arcangelo with her 2025 Oscar Performance filly at foot.
“Nearly 1,000 registered bidders and a wave of new prospective buyers underscored the continued strength of demand for racehorses,” said Leif Aaron, Fasig-Tipton’s Director of Digital Sales. “The breeding stock market performed exceptionally well for this time of year, generating nearly $1.5 million in gross sales and averaging close to $30,000 per horse. This was a truly international marketplace, with multiple purchases destined for overseas buyers.”
Full results are available online. Fasig-Tipton’s next digital sale will be held Aug. 21-26, with entries closing Aug. 11.
