Paris, Kentucky will unveil a new mural celebrating legendary racehorse Sunday Silence on October 12, officials announced Tuesday.
The dedication ceremony for the equine art installation is scheduled for 2 p.m. in downtown Paris and will be free and open to the public. The mural depicts the 1989 Kentucky Derby winner in his iconic victory.
Equine artist Jaime Corum created the artwork, which adorns the side of the new Hotel Thoroughbred. The hotel is slated to open in spring 2026.
The project was developed by the Legends of Bourbon County non-profit organization in partnership with Stone Farm.
The dedication ceremony will be part of the third annual Legends of Bourbon County festival, a weekend-long celebration honoring Sunday Silence’s legacy. The event includes a day-long festival on Main Street featuring vendors and multiple musical performances.
Festival attendees can enjoy performances from several musical acts throughout the day. The Mountain Music Ambassadors will perform at noon, followed by Kentucky Wild Horse at 1 p.m. Mash Grass is scheduled to take the stage at 2:35 p.m., with Jason Carter closing out the festivities at 4:30 p.m.
The mural represents the latest addition to Paris’s growing collection of equine-themed public art installations celebrating Kentucky’s thoroughbred heritage.
