The Jockey Club announced Friday the winners of its 2024 Thoroughbred Incentive Program (T.I.P.) Performance Awards, recognizing retired racehorses who have successfully transitioned to new competitive careers.
The program, designed to encourage the retraining of Thoroughbreds after their racing or breeding careers, saw participation from 691 horses across 44 states and five Canadian provinces. These equine athletes competed in more than 14,000 classes, divisions, and events throughout the year.
Awards were calculated across 16 categories, 99 discipline divisions, and nine junior rider divisions, highlighting the versatility of the Thoroughbred breed in post-racing careers.
The Green OTTB (Off-Track Thoroughbred) category, sponsored by Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA), specifically recognized horses that raced as recently as 2022, 2023, or 2024.
Additional specialty awards included recognition for horses adopted from Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA) accredited organizations and top performers among Retired Racehorse Project (RRP) Makeover alumni.
Winners received ribbons, prize money, and various prizes including coolers, halters, bags, tumblers, and apparel.
Notable category winners included:
- Dressage – Triple Magic (Bernardini–Triple o’Five)
- Equitation General – Runforprofit “Profitable” (Runhappy–Goodprofit)
- Eventing/Combined Test – Swing Hard (Hard Spun–Play Ballado)
