Warrant, the Grade III Winner and Grade I-Placed horse, is retiring. He’s heading to Blackstone Farm.

The news broke on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at 11:22 am. The update came a few minutes later, at 11:26 am.

Who’s Warrant, you ask? Well, he’s a horse with a pedigree. His lineage traces back to Constitution–Whisper Number, by First Samurai.

In 2021, Warrant clinched the GIII Oklahoma Derby. He was a whisker away from winning the GI Santa Anita H. the following spring. But alas, he came second.

Now, he’s retiring from racing. The year 2024 will see him enter stud at Blackstone Farm. This farm is nestled in the quaint town of Pine Grove, Pennsylvania.

His stud career will kick off with a fee of $4,000 S&N terms. Not too shabby, eh?

Warrant was bred by Twin Creeks Farm. His trainer? The renowned Brad Cox.

In 2021, Warrant also bagged the Texas Derby. He was a runner-up in the GIII West Virginia Derby. Then, he went on to win the Remington feature by 1 3/4 lengths.

In the 2022 Big ‘Cap, he was a close second behind Express Train (Union Rags). The odds were less than 4-1. But Warrant didn’t stop there. He added this year’s Isaac Murphy Marathon S. over 12 furlongs to his list of achievements.

He retires with five wins from 19 starts. His earnings? A cool $1,102,833.

Christian Black is stoked about Warrant’s retirement. “Warrant being a Grade III winner and Grade I-placed millionaire by emerging elite sire Constitution, we are very excited and can’t wait to introduce him to Pennsylvania breeders,” he said.

Blackstone Farm plans to support Warrant with their own mares. Twin Creeks’ Randy Gullatt is equally excited. “From day one, Warrant has been our favorite Constitution that we have. We have a ton of confidence in what Warrant can do as a stallion and look forward to supporting him,” he added.

So, there you have it. Warrant’s racing days are over. But his stud days are just beginning. Stay tuned for more updates.
